NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on July 29 has issued a notice to the Medical Council of India (MCI) in a plea seeking exam centres for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test- NEET 2020 in the middle east countries reported Live Law.

The Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was earlier filed in the SC by the parents of the NEET-UG 2020 aspirants residing in Doha, Qatar to seek a decision on the sanction of examination centres in Gulf countries.
Travelling restrictions faced by the aspirants
About 4,000 candidates who registered for the NEET entrance examination from Qatar in the Middle East have been facing trouble getting their documents attested from the Embassy of India in Qatar. And since, COVID 19 is still on the rise, many candidates are finding it difficult to travel internationally. Concern over 21 days of Quarantine accompanied by each aspirant who will travel internationally have also been pointed out by the candidates.
Prayers filed in the petition earlier
Acknowledging the problems faced by overseas aspirants, two prayers were filed in the plea earlier- an appeal to the Union of India to allocate NEET examinations centres in Qatar and other Middle-East countries and, if that is not possible, an appeal to postpone the NEET examination until the COVID 19 situation is normalised.
NEET 2020 Latest Updates
For now, with 16.84 lakh registered candidates, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct the only medical entrance examination in the country following the safety measures prescribed in the NEET 2020 SOP drafted by the medical experts of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
NEET 2020 is scheduled to be held on September 13, 2020, for admission to 82,926 MBBS, 26,949 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH and 525 BVSc & AH offered in colleges of India. Candidates are advised to keep in touch with Careers360 to know the latest dates and updates regarding NEET 2020.
