NEW DELHI: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will start the registration for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test postgraduate (NEET PG 2025) soon. The NEET PG information brochure and application form is expected to be published on the official website, natboard.edu.in, by next week, as per last year’s trends.

The NEET PG exam 2025 is held to fill 50% AIQ quota seats for all states and Union Territories of India and state quota seats. All private medical colleges across the country and Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions will also offer admission based on NEET PG rank through the MCC counselling.

Moreover, admission to post MBBS DNB courses, direct 6 year DrNB courses and Post MBBS NBEMS Diploma courses will also be done through NEET 2025.

NEET PG 2025 shift timings

The NBEMS confirmed the NEET PG exam date 2025 on March 17. As per the latest available information, NEET PG will be held in two shifts on June 15; unlike the traditional single shift entrance exam. The decision to hold the NEET PG exam in two shifts was made last year due to logistical reasons and to reduce the number of exam centres from 1,200 to 500.

The NEET PG morning shift will be held from 9 am to 12.30 pm and the evening shift from 3.30 pm to 7 pm. Since the exam is being conducted in multiple shifts, the NBEMS employed a normalisation method used by AIIMS for its entrance exam.

This decision, however, was not received well by the aspirants. In addition to changing the exam pattern, the NBEMS policy states that it will not make the content of the exam, including answer key and question paper, public.

Last month, Kerala MP Kodikunnil Suresh urged the Lok Sabha to discuss the NEET PG issues and said that the exam should not be compromised due to irregularities and systemic failures, referring to the prolonged court cases and delay in admissions due to errors in merit list and normalisation method.

Aspirants hope for reversal of NEET PG dual shift

“During foreplay of pre/postponement of NEET PG by NBE and NMC last year with 2 lakh + doctors the reason for double shift was stated as the lack of sufficient time for centres allocation and security,” Dr Dhruv Chauhan, national spokesperson of the Indian Medical association JDN said.

“But this year neither there was such an issue and yet exam is being conducted in two shifts despite knowing about the alleged irregularities and lack of transparency in Normalisation and marks calculation,” he said.

“Last year shift 2 was comparatively more difficult and losing confidence during that period affects the score and stats of the aspirants relative to other shift which is possible this time as well,” he added on his X post.

Another X user tweeted the topic-wise number of questions asked last year and wrote, “They can't even keep the same number of questions in the shift. That's normalisation for you”. There is no official information on the number of questions in NEET PG as the NBEMS does not make the details publicly available.

“Is Neet pg 2025 conducting in two phases. any hope of reversal,” another aspirant said.
