NEET PG 2026 cut-offs slashed for all categories; general category needs 262 marks

The National Board of Secondary Education (NBEMS) has published the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2026 cut-offs on its official website at natboard.edu.in. The cut-off scores have dropped across all categories compared to the previous year.

As per the NEET PG 2026 cut-offs , the qualifying cut-offs for general and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates has dropped by 14 marks, from 276 last year’s to 262 this year.

The NEET PG 2026 qualifying cut-off is 262 marks out of 729 for general, EWS candidates, 244 marks for general PwBD candidates and 226 marks for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates, including PwBD candidates.

The corresponding qualifying percentiles remain 50th, 45th, and 40th, respectively. The NEET PG 2026 was held for a total of 720 marks, while the 2025 session was conducted for a maximum of 800 marks.

The general EWS qualifying score of 262 marks is lower than the qualifying scores while comparing against the previous year. The general, EWS cut-offs were 302 in 2021, 275 in 2022, and 291 in 2023.

The NEET PG qualifying cut-offs is the minimum percentile and corresponding score required to qualify for counselling. The admission cut-off, on the other hand, mentions the rank or score at which candidates secure specific courses and colleges during counselling .

Furthermore, the admission cut-off varies on the basis of medical college, speciality, candidate category, seat quota, number of available seats, candidate preferences, and counselling round.

The qualifying cut-offs could also change depending on the candidate's performance and the difficulty level of the examination.
