NEET SS 2023: NMC asks medical colleges for broad specialty course 2020 batch’s exam schedule

NMC asked medical colleges to provide the tentative exam schedule of 2020 batch of broad specialty courses for deciding NEET SS 2023 dates.
NEW DELHI : The Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has asked all medical colleges, universities in India to provide the tentative exam schedule for the 2020 batch of the broad specialty PG courses in order to decide the schedule for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for SuperSpecialty (NEET SS) 2023 exams. The board asked colleges to send the schedule by today, March 17, 2023.
PGMEB’s direction comes as the final exams of the 2020 batch of these courses are expected to be delayed since their academic session was started late due to COVID-19.

According to the board, the academic session for broad specialty post graduate medical courses starts on May 1 and the last date of admission used to be May 31 as per Post Graduate Medical Education Regulation, 2000. Medical universities used to conduct the final examination of these courses in the month of March-April.
“However, due to COVID pandemic, the academic session 2020 was delayed and could start on July 1. Accordingly final examination for these courses is also expected to be delayed,” PGMEB added.

“In this regard, it is requested to provide the tentative examination schedule for the broad specialty PG courses for the 2020 batch. This information is urgently required for deciding the NEET SS exam 2023 schedule,” said Aujendar Singh, deputy secretary, PGMEB in an official notice to registrar of all medical universities. The board asked the medical universities to consider the orders as the “most urgent” and send the schedule as early as possible.
