The accused medical college students allegedly have taken money to impersonate NEET UG 2026 re-exam candidates and write the exam on their behalf, the Patna police said in the report.
The scam was busted when a suspicious individual posing as a biometric company employee was caught at an examination centre, the report read.
Recently, refuting a viral video on the re-NEET UG 2026 paper leak, the National Testing Agency (NTA) warned students against misinformation and said that the MBBS entrance test was conducted successfully under tight security.

The accused was identified as Mayank Kashyap, a 3rd-year MBBS student at PMCH, and after interrogating him, the police were able to raid multiple centres in Lakhisarai, it said.
Arpit Raj, a medical student at ANMMCH Gaya, is the kingpin of the racket. Notably, Raj had previously been questioned by central agencies in connection with last year’s NEET paper leak row, the report added.
Moreover, other accused included a nursing student from BHU, Saurabh Jha from AIIMS Rae Bareli, and Aman Agarwal, an intern from a medical college in Delhi, along with several students from nursing colleges, as per the report.
Their modus operandi involved tampering with the biometric verification at exam centres to allow impersonators to sit for original MBBS candidates, it added.
The report further stated that several colleges tried to prevent students from leaving campus during the NEET UG 2026 re-exam period by organising seminars and quiz activities. However, at least one student reportedly left college citing illness before being caught in Lakhisarai, the report said.
