How to calculate marks using NEET answer key?

Register NowNational Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate, NEET UG 2026 provisional answer key is out for over 20 lakh candidates who appeared in re-NEET conducted on June 21. With the release of answer keys , National Testing Agency, NTA has opened the objection window till June 28. Candidates who want to raise objections against any of the answers can do so by paying Rs 200 fee per question. The fee is refundable in full for accepted challenges.

How to calculate NEET UG 2026 marks
Candidates can estimate their probable NEET UG 2026 score by comparing their responses with the provisional answer key.
- Download the NEET UG 2026 provisional answer key from neet.nta.nic.in
- In the next step, match each of your responses with the official answer key
- Count the number of correct answers and incorrect answers and write it down somewhere
- Add and subtract marks to calculate your estimated score

NEET UG 2026 marking scheme : Correct answer: +4 marks, incorrect answer: −1 mark, unanswered question: 0 mark and question marked for review without an answer: 0 mark.
Formula to calculate NEET score: NEET Score = (Number of Correct Answers × 4) − (Number of Incorrect Answers × 1)
One should know that the calculated score is provisional. The final score may change after NTA reviews objections to the provisional answer key and publishes the final answer key and result.
NEET UG result 2026 date, time
NTA launched the answer key challenge process simultaneously with the release of the provisional answer key, even as the scanning of OMR answer sheets is still underway. It is enhance transparency by allowing candidates to review the provisional answer keys and raise objections at an earlier stage. According to the NTA, conducting the expert review of challenges alongside OMR scanning, instead of waiting for the scanning process to conclude. Following this, NTA is aiming to declare results at earliest.
