NMC warns medical colleges against fake recognition letters

NMC said that letters of recognition are sent through dedicated mail and speed post only.
NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission has warned medical colleges against fake recognition letters for postgraduate courses signed under the name of president of Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB).
“It has come to the notice of Post Graduate Education Medical Board, National Medical Commission that fake/forged letters of recognition under forged signature of Dr Vijay Oza, president PGMEB have been claimed to be received by a few medical colleges,” NMC said in an official notice.
The commission said that such letters are sent through a dedicated mail as well as a letter dispatched through speed post.
“All the stakeholders including medical colleges are hereby advised to not to fall in trap of any such fake letters of recognition/renewal of recognition if the same is not received through dedicated email from PGMEB, NMC as well as by post from NMC,” the commission added.
Earlier in September, NMC cautioned against fake permission letters issued to medical colleges in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. The fake LOPs were issued to medical colleges including Meenakshi Medical College, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, Santhiram Medical College, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, GR Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Karnataka, and GSL Medical College, Rajahmundr.
NMC had also notified the list of medical college s granted permission or renewal for undergraduate and postgraduate seats by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) for the academic year 2023-24.
