The CUET exam 2024 is the second largest entrance exam in the country and was introduced in the year 2022 by the University Grants Commission (UGC) replacing the merit-based admissions in the colleges and universities. The debut edition of the test saw 14.9 lakh registrations surpassing those for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main for engineering.
Starting with two shifts in a day, the CUET exam was conducted in three shifts this year. UGC also increased the exam centres to avoid the glitches faced by students in the first edition. However, the second edition was also marred by issues such as far off centres, late admit cards, and more.

The CUET exam is held for admission to 44 central, 44 state, 32 deemed, 134 private and three other participating universities. UGC may merge the JEE Main, CUET, and NEET exams into a single entrance exam.
