JEE Main 2026 day 4 shift 2: Section-wise analysis

Based on the Careers360 expert reviews, here’s a detailed section-wise analysis of the JEE Main 2026 April 6 Shift 2 exam.

JEE Main Physics analysis

The Physics section was rated easy to moderate in difficulty. It was easier compared to the January session, and most students were able to complete it within 40–45 minutes. Physics was considered the easiest among all three subjects, making it a high-scoring section for many candidates.

Questions in the exam were based on the following topics:

  • 2 questions from Ray optics (Topic: Minimum deviation)

  • 1 question from Modern Physics (Topic: Binding energy)

  • 1 question from Current electricity

  • 2 questions from Rotational motion

  • 1 question from Magnetic effect of current

  • 1 question from Thermodynamics

  • 1 question mixed from Capacitor and Electrostatics

JEE Main Mathematics analysis

The Mathematics section had an overall moderate difficulty level but was relatively tougher than Physics and Chemistry. It was similar to the morning shift of April 6 and easier than the sessions held on April 2, 4, and 5, as well as the January attempt. However, the section was lengthy and time-consuming, requiring strong conceptual clarity rather than just formula-based solving.

It was slightly tougher than Physics but easier than Maths and was comparable to the January session. The section had a higher weightage of Organic and Physical Chemistry, along with several statement-based questions, making it somewhat lengthy. Overall, the weightage trend followed Physical > Organic > Inorganic.

The questions covered the following areas:

  • 2 questions from Equilibrium

  • 2 questions from Chemical bonding

  • 1 question from Electrochemistry

  • 1 question from Coordination compounds

  • 1 question from Salt analysis

  • 1 question from Thermodynamics

  • 1 question from biomolecules
