Jaishankar made the comments while addressing an event ‘Viksit Bharat@2047 Vikas Samvad’ at Hindu College of Delhi University. The event was organized on the theme ‘G20 presidency and its global impact’.

DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Yogesh Singh presided over the programme. Jaishankar also interacted with the students after the address.
“The world is divided into developed north and developing south and due to the Ukraine war, countries are being polarised into east and west. We are in the middle of this, so it is our responsibility to bring the divided world together,” he said.
India is respected in the world because of our governance, economy, technology and independent foreign policy, he added. “India has recovered very quickly from the Covid pandemic whereas many countries were not able to recover properly,” the minister said.
Ukraine war has led to many problems in the world. It has affected fuel prices and availability as well as prices of food grains and fertilisers thereby impacting the global economy, he said.
Highlighting the policies of the Centre, the union minister said, “We have provided food security to 80 crore people, given Mudra loans to 40 crore people, 15 crore houses have been provided to households in the last 10 years and due to the Ujjwala scheme, 9.5 crore women have benefitted.”
Jaishankar said the next 25 years of ‘Amrit Kaal’ are very important for us in which we have to become a developed nation.
Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh said, “There is no doubt that India will become a developed nation by 2047, as this is the resolve of the Prime Minister and 140 crore Indians with him.” He called upon the students that we have to find our role in this as the next 25 years are very important for us.
At the beginning of the program, principal of Hindu College, Anju Srivastava welcomed the guests and presented detailed information about the programme.
