Sathyabama University 35th Convocation: SIST confers 5,644 degrees to UG, PG students; 4,002 secure job offers

SIST Convocation Ceremony 2026: Sathyabama University conferred degrees on 4,712 undergraduate, 932 postgraduate, and 116 PhD graduating students; 55 received gold medals
Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), Semmancheri, Chennai, held its 35th convocation ceremony and conferred degrees on 4,712 undergraduate, 932 postgraduate, and 116 PhD graduating students. Notably, 4,002 students secured job offers through a campus recruitment drive.
Additionally, 55 high-achieving students received gold medals, bringing the total number of graduates to 5,644.
The SIST’s 35th convocation ceremony was presided over by the chancellor, Mariazeena Johnson, and president Maria Johnson. Tamil Nadu ministers attended the ceremony, including Aadav Arjuna and N Marie Wilson, who delivered special addresses.

SIST’s campus recruitment 2026
According to the SIST official press release, during the academic year 2025-2026, over 450 companies held campus interviews at the university and a total of 93.12% of students secured employment. Shortlisted students received annual salary packages ranging from a minimum of Rs 5,73,000 to a maximum of Rs 41,20,000.
Speaking at the convocation ceremony, the Tamil Nadu finance minister Wilson said: “People need not pay bribes anywhere. The days ahead will be very prosperous for Tamil Nadu . I did not expect to be appointed Finance Minister. Take good care of your parents and remain honest.”
He further advised students to take a pledge neither to accept nor give dowry.
Tamil Nadu sports minister Arjuna said: “A revolution has taken place in Tamil Nadu after 50 years. Students and the youth are the reason for this. Youth make up more than 50% of Tamil Nadu's population. The Chief Minister is there to take the lives of the youth to the next level. For a state to progress economically, higher education for students is key.”
The TN sports minister further emphasized that integrating 50% academics and 50% sports into education will be beneficial for students. Scholarships will be awarded to students who develop innovations. He urged students, encouraging women from rural areas to pursue studies in fields such as engineering, medicine, and law.
“I would emphasize integrating 50% academics and 50% sports into education. The youth and women are the reasons behind the success achieved by the Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam. We must develop technologies that will shape the world over the next 40 to 50 years,” the sports minister said.
