Skoch Award: West Bengal tops in the education sector nationally

Banglar Shiksha 3.0 and Banglar Uchchashiksha are transforming the education landscape in West Bengal, says the Skoch report.

NEW DELHI: West Bengal has topped in the education sector nationally in the "SKOCH State of Governance Report 2021", informed West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee through a tweet. The minister congratulated the team Education West Bengal for its achievement.

West Bengal was in the fifth position in the education sector in 2017. As per the Skoch report, it is the projects Banglar Shiksha 3.0 and Banglar Uchchashiksha that are transforming the education landscape in the state. The state acquired the second overall position in the "SKOCH State of Governance 2021" report. For the past four years, the state has managed to be in the top 3 performers. It was ranked first in the year 2018.

The Skoch award will be conferred to the state in New Delhi on June 18, 2022, as part of the India Governance Forum. "I am happy to announce that West Bengal has topped in the Education sector nationally in the ‘SKOCH State of Governance Report 2021. The ‘Star of Governance-SKOCH Award in Education’ will be conferred to West Bengal on 18 June 2022 at New Delhi as a part of the ‘India Governance Forum’. My congratulations and best wishes to the team Education West Bengal,” Banerjee tweeted.

The Skoch award is conferred to those who make "extraordinary achievements in contributing to the society," explains the official website. The Skoch award was instituted in 2003 by the Skoch Group, which is a consulting firm founded in 1997. The award is received by those making efforts in digital, financial and social inclusion. It includes governance, inclusive growth, technology and applications, change management, corporate leadership and governance, citizen services delivery, capacity building, empowerment and other such issues that otherwise go unnoticed.
