Tamil Nadu Agricultural University organises NSS special camp in Coimbatore district

A total of 647 volunteers of TNAU participated in the NSS camp held at Madampatti, Pooluvapatti, Aalanthurai and other villages.
NEW DELHI: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the Centre for Students Welfare of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) organised a special camp, in which 647 volunteers of second year undergraduate programme participated. The NSS camp was held on January 6.
The volunteers from various units conducted special camp activities such as necessity and location-based technology demos in agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, and other related sectors. The students visited Madampatti, Pooluvapatti, Aalanthurai, Devirayapuram, Narasipalayam, and Vellimalaippattinam village in Coimbatore district during the NSS special camp.
Students representatives and programme officers handled the necessary arrangements for conducting the special camp. The entire activities were conducted by programme coordinator M Prahadeeswaran with the direction from dean of the Center for Students Welfare, TNAU, N Maragatham.
The Special NSS Camp commenced at 9.30am on Saturday at Madhampatti village. The NSS special camp was inaugurated by CSW dean N Maragatham under the presidency of R Thamizh Vendan, registrar, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute (AEC and RI) dean A Raviraj, Horticulture College and Research Institute dean P Irene Vethamoni and Madhampatti village uppardhan C Krishnaswamy were also present on the occasion.

The TNAU said, “Under regular and special camping programmes, NSS volunteers are involved in personality development programmes, societal awareness programmes and awareness rallies, programmes on health services and dissemination of agricultural technologies in the college premises and in the adopted villages.”
TNAU is ranked number 5, out of 152 agricultural Institutions in the country. It has been ranked 93rd among 2,478 institutions in the ranking.
