TBSE Bochhor Bachao scheme
Noticing a decline in academic performance among Class 10 and 12 students, the education board is considering implementing Bochhor Bachao (save-a-year) exams for those who fail to pass their exams on the first attempt.
According to the Bochhor Bachao scheme introduced by the Tripura government in 2020, students are guaranteed admission to colleges or promotion to the next class for board exams even if they fail in up to two subjects, provided they have obtained at least 150 marks. However, they must pass a retest within 75 days of the results being announced to continue with higher education.
In 2023, a total of 43,730 candidates took the Class 10 board exams, and 38,125 candidates took the Class 12 board exams.
This year, the number of board exam candidates has decreased because many schools transitioned to the Vidyajyoti system.
