Telangana schools to introduce French for Classes 6 to 12 students

French Institute in India has signed an agreement with TSWREIS, TTWREIS to introduce French in 20 Telangana schools in first phase.
NEW DELHI: The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) and the Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TTWREIS) has signed an agreement with the Institut Français en Inde (IFI - The French Institute in India) to introduce French in schools of the state.
In the pilot programme, French will be introduced in around 20 school affiliated to TSWREIS or TTWREIS. After noting the interest shown by the students, it will be expanded to other schools. The language will be taught in Classes 5 to 12.

Under the partnership, the IFI will train TSWREIS and TTWREIS teachers in communicative French. It will also give students access to its cultural and academic platforms. It will also organise workshops and seminars to inform students about university studies in France and scholarship opportunities.
The agreement was signed by E Naveen Nicolas, secretary, TSWREIS, Emmanuel Lebruns-Damiens, director of the French Institute in India and Thierry Berthelot, consul general of France in Bangalore.
Nicolas expressed his admiration for the deep interest that the French Institute in India expressed towards the partnership, which is one of its kind in Telangana. “Education is a path breaking means to achieve the goal of social justice. The partnership will not only pave a pathway to success in a deeply connected world but will also focus on building in-house teacher capacity to teach French in the long run,” he added.
Lebrun-Damiens said, “The Telangana government and France share a similar philosophy of education, which emphasises the importance of preparing students for success in a globalised world. Education is a priority among all the collaborations between France and India. Learning French can be a transformative experience for students, opening up new academic and professional opportunities.”
