UGC invites feedback on guidelines for implementation of reservation policy

UGC Reservation Policy: Any vacant seats reserved for SC, ST, OBC, EWS categories will not be carried forward to the following year as a backlog.
NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has invited comments, feedback and suggestions on the draft guidelines for implementation of the reservation policy of the government of India in Higher Education Institutes (HEls). According to the proposed UGC draft, these guidelines will be implemented to all central universities, deemed-to-be-universities, and other autonomous institutions under the governance of the Government of India.
Stakeholders may submit comments and feedback regarding the reservation policy on the University Activity Monitoring Portal (UAMP) of UGC till January 28, 2024.
UGC Reservation Policy: Professor posts
According to the chapter IV of the reservation policy draft, There will be a reservation of 15% for candidates of the Scheduled Castes (SC), 7.5% for candidates belonging from Scheduled Tribes (ST), and 27% for candidates of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in the matter of appointment by direct recruitment for the posts of assistant professor, associate professor, and professors."
UGC Reservation Policy: University admission
If there are no suitable applicants for SC, ST, OBC, EWS seats, institutions can make up to three attempts to fill them in an academic year. However, any vacant seats will not be carried forward to the following year as a backlog.

UGC Reservation Policy: Civil posts
Candidates belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) who are not covered under the reservation scheme for SCs, STs, and OBCs shall get 10% reservation in direct recruitment in civil posts and services in the Government of India.
