NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the last date for uploading credits on the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) portal, December 31, 2024. Higher Educational Institutions (HEls) are requested to deposit students’ credits within the given deadline, beyond which they will not be allowed to do so.
The UGC established the ABC system in order to store academic credits obtained from accredited HEls digitally. The timely uploading of credits to the APAAR repository and into students’ individual APAAR accounts enables them to redeem and transfer credits. The UGC has mandated this process for every student, as recommended by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
In order to become a part of ABC, HEIs can register on the portal, and then verify and transfer credits. After assessments are finished and outcomes are announced, all HEIs must upload credit information right away.

The UGC has urged all the HEIs to prioritise the data upload in order to meet the deadline and complete upload of ABC ID mapped credit data relating to the academic years 2021, 2022 and 2023.
The NEP 2020 aims to create innovative and flexible curricular structures that support credit-based systems. The objective is to encourage flexible, integrated, and multidisciplinary education.
