NEW DELHI: After disaster management, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced Ayurveda Biology as a subject in the National Eligibility Test (NET), starting from the December 2024 session. Aspirants will be able to apply for the new paper while filling the UGC NET December 2024 exam application form.

“Based on the expert committee's recommendations, the Commission, in its 581 meeting held on 25th June, 2024, has decided to add "Ayurveda Biology" as an additional subject from December 2024 onwards to the existing list of subjects of UGC-NET,” said the commission.

The UGC NET syllabus for the newly added subject is available on the official website, ugcnetonline.in, the commission informed.

“Ayurveda Biology is now introduced as a subject in the UGC-NET exam. Starting December 2024, candidates can opt for this unique subject, promoting interdisciplinary knowledge and the ancient science of Ayurveda,” UGC said in a post on X while sharing the news.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the UGC NET exam twice a year to determine the eligibility of aspiring candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as assistant professor, and for admission to PhD programmes at Indian colleges and universities.
