UP Assistant Teachers recruitment - Allahabad High Court favours increase in cutoff for 69000 posts

NEW DELHI: Allahabad High Court, Uttar Pradesh has given its verdict on 69000 Assistant Teachers recruitment and stated the increase in the cut off marks to be correct.The aforesaid recruitment test was conducted on January 6, 2019 wherein the government had imposed to increase the cut off score for recruiting the Assistant Teachers to 65% for the general category and 60% for the reserved category candidates.
In its verdict, the court supported the decision of increasing the qualifying percentage to ensure that better teachers get recruited. As per the decision, the recruitment process for the UP Assistant Teachers has to be completed within six months.

It all started on July 25, 2017 when the Supreme Court ordered the cancellation of the recruitment of about 137500 Teachers. Later a recruitment notice was released to conduct the exam on January 6, 2019 for the recruitment of 68500 Assistant Teachers. A day after the test, the court ordered the increase in the cut off score and thus the candidates were forced to take the help of the court. It is to be noted that earlier, the cut off for selection was 45% (general) and 40% (reserved),thus, it led the job seekers to move to the court.
About UP Assistant Teachers Recruitment
Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board conducts the recruitment exam for UP Assistant Teachers. Candidates between 21 to 40 years of age who have completed a B.Ed degree can only apply for the post. The test is conducted in offline mode wherein objective type multiple choice questions are asked and candidates get the OMR sheet to answer their test. The test carries 150 marks questions for which the candidates get 2 hours 30 minutes.
