UP created 3 crore job opportunities in last six years, state government claims

The UP government held 5,021 job fairs in which 7.29 lakh youth got employment. Around 6 lakh got government jobs.
NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh government said that it has provided around 3 crore direct and indirect job opportunities to the youth in the last six years. The government has held 5,021 job fairs across the state in the same period, it claimed.
As many as 7.29 lakh persons have got employment through these job fairs, the government said on Wednesday. It also appreciated the role of micro, small, medium enterprises (MSME) for generating several employment opportunities. The state government also said that it has provided around 6 lakh government jobs in the last six years.

Moreover, 96 lakh MSME units of the state employed 6,94,751 persons in the last financial year. A total of 1,35,250 persons got jobs under the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme of the state government, it said.
The government is now focusing on implementing investment agreements worth Rs 36 lakh crore on the ground. It projects that around 95 lakh employment opportunities will be created if all the units which have signed agreements start functioning.
As per the official statement, most of the job opportunities will be created in MSMEs and ODOP initiative through these investments as the big enterprises will get raw materials from the smaller units.

Over 1 lakh got skill training
The government has also claimed that 1,73,386 persons were provided skill training in the last six years. For this the government entered into several agreements such as collaborating with Tata Group to upgrade the skills of students of 150 industrial training institutes (ITIs).
More than 25 lakh students were trained in various ITIs of the state. Of which, 10.20 lakh students have got jobs.
Fifty incubators and 7,500 startups are also functioning in the state, the government said. The start ups are working in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), engineering, medical in collaboration with PGI Lucknow and IIT Kanpur. Additionally, initiatives are also focussed on providing skill training for youth in artificial intelligence, advanced computing, robotics, and other emerging sectors.
