UPPSC RO ARO Prelims exam scheduled for December 22, 23 postponed following protests by candidates for single shift, normalisation-free exam.
NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (UPPSC) has postponed the Review Officer-Assistant Review Officer (RO ARO) exam scheduled for December 22, 23. The commission will announce the new exam date after receiving the report of the recently formed committee. The announcement comes amid protests by aspirants against conduct of the exam in multiple shifts and normalisation.
In view of 10,76,004 applications for UPPSC RO ARO Prelims exam, the state commission formed a panel to study and analyse the facts and prepare a report, in order to ensure a transparent and fair selection process.
Now, UPPSC has informed that the committee will be headed by Kalp Raj Singh, senior most member, and will include UPPSC member Ram Pyare, retired IAS Yogesh Kumar Shukla, and retired PCS Prem Prakash Pal.
“The examination in question, which was to be held in three shifts on December 22 and 23, 2024, has been postponed. On receiving the report of the committee, the commission will inform about the further date of examination as soon as possible after due consideration of all the relevant aspects,” UPPSC said in an official notice.
UPPSC in three shifts, protests
Several candidates staged protests for days against the commission’s decision to hold the recruitment exam in three shifts. The protestors raised slogans and held placards saying ‘one day one shift’ exam.
UPPSC had announced that the RO ARO exam will be held in three shifts across two days in line with the provision of conducting an exam in multiple shifts in case the number of examinees is more than 5 lakh in a shift. Moreover, the decision was taken due to unavailability of examination centres to accommodate all candidates.
It had also notified the normalisation method to be used for the objective-type exams held in two or more shifts. The commission had formed a high-level committee of experts to recommend the evaluation process.
