College reopen: Uttarakhand government has issued guidelines on reopening higher education institutions from September 1.
NEW DELHI: The Uttarakhand Government has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ahead of reopening higher education institutions from September 1, as per a report from The New Indian Express. Check live updates on college reopening in India here .
According to the report, the guidelines issued by the Uttarakhand government asked all the teaching and non-teaching staff to get vaccinated before reopening colleges.
The government also asked the higher education institutions to sanitise the premises properly before reopening colleges. Students will have to wear masks while attending classes. Colleges will have to provide provisions of hand sanitizer, masks, and thermal scanning at the main entrance gate of their respective colleges.
Any student, teacher, or staff who shows covid symptoms will be sent back home. The guidelines also stated that colleges will have to ensure social distancing at the entrance gates, as per the report.
Further, the government asked colleges to prepare a schedule to have students enter and leave colleges at different hours. The schools have been asked to make students aware about the guidelines and ensure that all the safety measures are followed strictly.
Recently, Delhi University issued guidelines on reopening colleges for Science students from August 16. However, later the university postponed its decision to resume physical classes .
The Uttarakhand government has reopened most of the schools for Classes 6-12 in the state.
The state governments have slowly begun school reopening for higher classes. States like Odisha, Punjab, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh have resumed physical classes considering the dip in covid cases. The Uttar Pradesh government has even allowed schools to reopen for Classes 1-5 from September 1.
