Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar visits BITS Pilani; announces five internships at Rajya Sabha

NEW DELHI: Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar today announced that he Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS Pilani) has signed an agreement with the Indian council of World Affairs. The VP , along with minister of law and justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, was on visit at BITS Pilani.

As per the agreement, five students of BITS Pilani will get the opportunity to pursue internships at Rajya Sabha while the institute will be able to organise recurring visits for other students as guests to the Rajya Sabha.

The VP and law minister discussed various topics, further strengthening the ties between academia and government, the institute said. Reflecting on India's economic journey, he recalled the state of the Indian economy in the 80's and celebrated the remarkable transformation that has taken place. The VP also highlighted the monumental strides made in the digitisation of India during an interaction at the BITS Pilani.

Never fear failure: VP

Emphasising on the role of students in shaping the country, he said, "I am a product of education, and I truly believe that students at BITS will shape the future of India. One should never fear failure and always be innovative. Students are the ultimate stakeholders of democracy."

Earlier, BITS Pilani vice-chancellor V Ramgopal Rao and director Sudhirkumar Barai welcomed the guests on the campus and provided them with an overview of the BITS Pilani, an institute of national eminence. Rao said,” We at BITS Pilani are proud to share the Vice-President's vision and remain committed to nurturing future leaders who will continue to drive progress and development in India.”

The BITS Pilani has five campuses where 18,000 students study. It has 900 faculty members in these campuses. “BITS Pilani aspires to become the Stanford of India, a vision shared by the Vice Chancellor, reflecting the institution's dedication to fostering world-class education, research and Innovation,” the institute said.
