COVID-19 Lockdown: Stranded students from Kashmir sent back from Pune

NEW DELHI: Pune district administration on Wednesday sent 80 stranded persons from Jammu and Kashmir including 65 students back, reported the Press Trust of India .

District Collector Naval Kishore Ram said three buses will take them to Nagpur, from where they will go to J&K by train. "Before boarding, the passengers were given food packets and water bottles and all the social distancing norms were followed while sending them in the buses," he told PTI .

Students stranded in different parts of the country due to the lockdown imposed to control the spread of coronavirus are finally being able to head home. On May 12, students being coached to write competitive exams in Kanpur were sent home in 40 buses.

Plus, even before the ministry of home affairs issued guidelines allowing states to organise the return of students, workers and other travellers stranded in the lockdown to their homes, states had started evacuating students from places like Kota, Rajasthan. Uttar Pradesh was the first to take that step.
