12 lakh education technology free course coupons to economically disadvantaged students: NEAT

NEW DELHI: National Educational Alliance for Technology (NEAT) an Ministry of Education initiative will distribute 12 lakh education technology free course coupons to socially and economically disadvantaged students. Candidates can avail the benefit through AICTE internship website link till December 17, 2021.

The ministry said, “NEAT brings the best education technology courses in pedagogy on a single platform for learners' convenience. In addition, technology courses use artificial intelligence for customized learning and e-content in niche areas with highly employable skills.”
The distribution of free seats would be done through the NEAT portal, based on student information shared by educational institutions. During the first phase, the portal would be launched as a pilot phase in AICTE approved government colleges of India only, the official website of NEAT said.
While registering on the student tab at internship.aicte-india.org, candidates have to fill in the personal details and college details. The registration form will also have a section that reads, “Apply for NEAT free products”. Students have to fill the category, course preference and academic pass percentage details.
NEAT is a public-private partnership model between the government (through its implementing agency AICTE) and the education technology companies of India.

In another news, the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has constituted a 10-member committee comprising UGC, AICTE, CBSE, NCERT, NIOS and others for drafting the SOP to address the difficulties faced by students related to the ‘equivalence certificates’ issued by the secondary, senior secondary boards for the purpose of admissions in higher education institutions and employment.
