Admission: WUD opens applications for PG disaster-resilient planning
World University of Design’s one-year pg diploma programme is on designing to mitigate the impact of disasters.

NEW DELHI : World University of Design has invited applications for its one-year postgraduate diploma in "disaster resilient planning and design". The last date to submit the application form is July 31, said a statement from the university.
The one-year diploma programme is aimed at specifically developing skills and knowledge in designing to mitigate the impact of disasters.
The programme has been designed to critically analyse and apply key concepts in disaster management theory, research, policy, and practice, the statement said.
Emphasizing the need for such a program in the present situation, Shaleen Sharma, dean, World University of Design said: “At a larger scale now the designers should actively participate in the process in case the need comes rather than one segment of professionals who takes care of all these problems. It's a problem that collectively all the doctors only. The need for such programmes haS always been there but it has become more important in the present context.”
The university has assembled an interdisciplinary team of professionals, drawing on ideas and methods in design, construction, geography, history, politics, development studies and arts.
Through this programme students will be able to develop sufficient knowledge to apply planning and design skills and competencies to meet disaster management career demands with a mindset to withstand challenges that an unforeseen disaster must lash out with, the statement said.
