AIU recognises SPJIMR's Fellow Programme in Management equivalent to PhD

The FPM graduates from the SPJIMR can now apply for research-based roles, policy making and can also look for positions that demands a PhD degree.
NEW DELHI: The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has recognised the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) at the SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) equivalent to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from an Indian university.
With the recognition by AIU, the FPM graduates from the SPJIMR can now apply for research-based roles, policy making and can also look for positions that demands a PhD degree. The development will also boost the institute’s presence in the country and abroad, attracting scholars in search of research studies, said that institute.
Recently, the SPJIMR closes 2023-25 placements for PGDM and PGDM (BM) programmes with 100% placements.
Highlighting the importance of the recognition, Varun Nagaraj, dean, SPJIMR, said: “The AIU recognition serves as an affirmation of the academic rigour, research excellence, and institutional credibility that SPJIMR has collectively nurtured over the years. It reinforces our commitment to advancing high-quality, impactful research that enhances the value of our scholars’ contribution to the management field, bridging academia and industry.”
“As we celebrate this moment, I look forward to the continued support of our research guides, scholars, internal and international faculty, and staff in strengthening our research ecosystem and mentoring the next generation of scholars who will take SPJIMR’s legacy forward,” Bikramjit Ray Chaudhuri, chairperson, fellow programme and research, said.

SPJIMR’s Fellow Programme in Management
The FPM consists of research training, industry engagement, and academic mentorship, and guides scholars to contribute “meaningfully” to management research and education.
Currently, the fellow programme has 29 active scholars, including 27 actively enrolled and two awaiting convocations. Moreover, five scholars have conferred their degrees in 2024, and two will get their PhDs in May, 2025.
