Under the UP government’s ‘Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya Scheme,' over 3,000 seats are offered for Class 6 and 9 admission for the academic year 2026-27.

The government of Uttar Pradesh conducted the Atal Residential School Scheme entrance exam for the academic year 2026-27 across 89 exam centres today. A total of 21,072 students took the entrance exam under the ‘Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya Scheme' for Classes 6 and 9 admissions.
According to the official press release, a total of 2,880 seats are offered for admission to Class 6, while 1,140 seats are available for admission to Class 9. The Atal Residential School entrance exam 2026 was organised on the same day to ensure transparency, and a uniform question paper was prepared at the state level
For Class 6 admissions, 12,018 students participated in the exam, while 9,054 students appeared for the Class 9 exams. Thus, a total of 21,072 students from both classes took the entrance exam.
To maintain the quality and impartiality of the examination, question papers were prepared by experts at the state level, due to which the examination was conducted according to the same standards at all examination centers.

Atal Residential School Scheme is an initiative of the UP Government, under which quality residential education is provided to children of construction workers and belonging to financially poor backgrounds.
In residential schools, students are offered free residential facilities, food, uniforms, books, co-curricular activities, and modern educational resources for holistic development.
For the successful conduct of the examination, all the necessary arrangements were ensured by the district administration, labor department officials, nominated nodal officers, and superintendents of the exam centers in each district.
Furthermore, adequate arrangements were made to maintain security, confidentiality, and discipline at the exam centres.
“In the Atal Residential Schools operating in the state, education is provided according to the CBSE curriculum and facilities like modern classrooms, hostels, laboratories, playgrounds, digital education facilities, etc. are made available for the students,” the official press release adds.
