BHU Arts Faculty gets first female dean in more than 100 years

NEW DELHI: The Faculty of Arts, Banaras Hindu University, has appointed Ramkali Saraf as its new dean on April 30, 2020.
This is for the first time the university faculty has appointed a female dean in more than 100 years of its history.
“The faculty of arts, BHU has received its first female dean in more than 100-years of its history. Ramkali Saraf has taken charge as the largest faculty heads of BHU,” a social media post by the university reads.

Saraf has been engaged in the teaching profession for four decades. Before joining as the dean, she was working as a faculty member of the department of Hindi, BHU.
She is best known for her interventions in the field of literature-review and her contribution to literary criticism, according to the university’s statement.
