BS Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science, Technology confers 2,581 degrees at 14th convocation

NEW DELHI: BS Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology celebrated its 14th convocation ceremony where a total of 2,518 youths were conferred with degrees including 59 PhDs, 708 PG and 1751 UG, while 65 of them were gold medallists.

Due to the restrictions, 1,830 students attended the convocation online, while a total of 687 graduates received their degrees in person, as per the official statement.

During the convocation event, M Vellaipandi, director general of STQC directorate, ministry of electronics and IT, government of India, conferred students with their degrees and offered his wishes to the graduates on their professional journeys.

Vellaipandi emphasised the importance of “embracing the unexpected,” and said that the unavoidable challenges in life should be taken as opportunities for growth. He further said by addressing the graduates that they should train their minds as a “growth mindset” and should be calm during adversities.

Encouraging graduates to discover their “north star”, which will act as a guide and will share their decisions, he further added by saying that the students should have clarity about their personal and professional goals so that they can face the “world’s challenges and create meaningful change.”

He also said that “build bridges, not walls” and stressed the importance of collaboration and collective effort. “Students should contribute to solutions that benefit society and elevate those around them. Continuous learning and development are key to reaching new heights in your careers, and never stop learning and growing,” he added.

Rangarajan Raghavan, former managing director of HCL Infosystems Ltd and A Mohamed Ali, managing director of South India Shelters Pvt. Ltd, were the guests of honour at the 14th convocation ceremony.

Raghavan addressed the gathering by sharing his thoughts on ‘Emerging Technologies and Future Trends.’ He said: “An immense opportunity lies ahead for India’s young minds in the ever-evolving technological landscape.”

He also emphasised India’s leadership in “driving global technological advancement” and said that the upcoming generation is dedicated to grabbing the opportunities.

While, Ali, in his address, highlighted three factors in sharing India’s future, said: “India’s young working population with over 1.4 billion contributors to the economy, India has an unparalleled advantage in its workforce. Rising purchasing power, how the country is steadily moving out of the poverty line and the country both produces and consumes. Technological progress, India may still be developing, it is ahead of many developed countries in technological advancements, and I urge youth to take charge and drive progress.

Qurrath Jameela, chancellor, BSACIST; Abdul Qadir A Rahman Buhari, pro chancellor; T Murugesan, vice chancellor; N Thajuddin, pro-vice chancellor; N Raja Hussain, registrar and members of the executive council also participated in the event.
