Apply NowNEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will allow Class 10 and Class 12 students studying at the recently disaffiliated schools to appear for the board exam 2024-25 from the same school. It also permitted such schools to apply for restoration of affiliation up to secondary level after a year in 2026-27, the official order read.
The CBSE Board conducted surprise inspections in schools situated across Delhi and Rajasthan and issued show cause notices to 27 schools in this region in the month of September. Such schools were given a 30 days time period to respond. After reviewing the responses submitted by the schools, the board disaffiliated 21 schools, mostly from Delhi, and downgraded 6 schools from senior secondary to secondary level.
The affiliation of 21 schools were withdrawn due to various reasons such as huge number of dummy and non-attending students in higher secondary classes, non-availability of proper records, student-teacher ratio.
The board found that the schools were not maintaining records of admission withdrawal, register, admission forms, attendance register of scholars, acquaintance roll, service books, leave records. The inspection also revealed that the section-teacher and teacher-pupil ratio was not as per the CBSE norms.
What’s next for CBSE disaffiliated schools?
- Classes 10 and 12 students will be permitted to appear from the same school for session 2024-25.
- Students who are presently in Classes 9 and 11 will be shifted to nearby schools by the respective regional officer.
- Schools have been ordered not to take any new admission or promote the students of lower classes in Class 9 and 11.
- Schools will be allowed to apply for restoration of affiliation up to secondary level “after the lapse of one academic year ie. from 2026-27 after ameliorating the deficiencies pointed out”.
- Schools will be permitted to seek restoration of affiliation up to senior secondary level only after two academic years of restoration up to secondary level, “if so sought and granted”.
