: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released Class 10 and 12 syllabus for the academic session 2020-21. There are a few changes in syllabus and exam pattern as compared to last year. We have provided a detailed analysis of the changes in the syllabus as compared to previous years-

Reduction in CBSE Board Exam Syllabus
However, the new syllabus has been released. But now, the board is working on the reduction of the syllabus to cope up the loss of study time due to Covid-19 and nation-wide lockdown. The updated syllabus after reduction (if done) will be made available online cbseacademic.nic.in.
Changes in News CBSE Class 10 Syllabus
We have analysed that there are no changes in the syllabus for CBSE Board Exams 2020-21 including English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science subjects of Class 10. Students can check the subject-wise analysis below:
English
-
No changes in the topics and chapters, but the exam pattern has some changes.

Some questions have been removed and some added.
-
Marks distribution has also changed for some questions.

One workbook ‘Words and Expressions II (Workbook for Class X)’ has also been prescribed.

Other two textbooks are the same.
Mathematics
-
No changes in the topics and chapters of Mathematics, unit-wise marks distribution and books.
Science
-
No changes in the topics and chapters, unit-wise marks distribution, topics.

Books are the same as last year, just one more book has been prescribed this year. The new prescribed book name is ‘Assessment of Practical Skills in Science- Class X- CBSE Publication’.
Social Science
-
There are no changes in Social Science syllabus, unit-wise marks distribution, project work and map work.

Only one more book ‘Learning Outcomes at the Secondary Stage – Published by NCERT’ has been prescribed.
Changes in News CBSE Class 12 Syllabus
In 2020-21, a new academic elective subject ‘Applied Mathematics’ has been introduced in group-A subjects. Here is the list of some subjects with no changes in the syllabus for academic session 2020-21

Following two practicals have been removed:

Study of presence of suspended particulate matter in the air at two widely different sites.

Study of the effect of different temperatures on the activity of salivary amylase

One more book ‘Biology Supplementary Material (Revised)’ has been prescribed.
Chemistry

Organic Compounds containing Nitrogen

No other changes are available in the syllabus for the CBSE Board exams 2020-21 as compared to 2019-20
Physics
-
No changes in the theory syllabus.

The total number of practical activities has been increased to 6 from 5.

The following practicals have been removed:
-
To determine the wavelength of a laser beam by diffraction.

To understand the principle of (i) a NOT gate (ii) an OR gate (iii)an AND gate and to make their equivalent circuits using a bell and cells/battery and keys /switches
