CBSE board reduced syllabus 2021; Core concepts will remain intact

NEW DELHI : Central Board of Secondary Education has revised the CBSE syllabus 2021 for Classes 9 to 12. Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal announced the reduction in the CBSE board exam syllabus 2021 by 30 per cent in July 2020. The decision was taken considering the loss of classroom teaching due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Board has decided to revise the syllabi for classes 9-12 for the academic session 2020-21. Considering the importance of achieving the level of learning, the syllabus has been rationalised to the extent possible by retaining the core concepts,” said a circular issued by CBSE director (academics), Joseph Emmanuel.

However, the board has made sure that the core concepts of all the subjects are intact even after the reduction in the CBSE syllabus 2021. This revised syllabus will help to reduce the course load for Classes 9 to 12 students for the upcoming exams.

In a webinar conducted on December 31 on Twitter, the education minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal, announced the CBSE board exams dates. CBSE Class 10 and 12 exams will be conducted from May 4 to June 10, 2021. On the other hand, the practical exams will commence from March 1.

The education minister recently said in the live session conducted for the Kendriya Vidyalaya students that the ministry is planning to resume classroom teaching soon. He further said that this year there will be an amalgamation of both classroom and online teaching.

He also ensured the students that the questions in the competitive exams such as JEE Main and NEET will only be asked from the reduced portion of the CBSE syllabus 2021.
