NEW DELHI : Ministry of Education has cancelled the CBSE Class 10 exams due to the increasing COVID-19 cases in the country. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ intimated through his Twitter handle that Class 10 students will be promoted on the basis of objective criterion. This objective criterion is to be developed by the CBSE board.

The decision to cancellation of the CBSE 10th exams and promotion of students in the next class on the basis of new objective criteria was taken in a high-level meeting headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
What is the objective criterion in CBSE ?
After the announcement of the cancellation of the CBSE 10th exams, several students are wondering what objective criteria actually means. Objective criteria is something that the board will develop to evaluate the performance of the students in Class 10. It can either be based on the internal marking or the pre-boards conducted by the respective schools. Therefore, students must wait for the objective criterion which is to be developed by the board soon.
Know last year’s CBSE 10th evaluation scheme:
Last year, the CBSE board evaluated the student's performance based on the exams conducted in March 2020. Students who appeared for all the CBSE Classes 10 exams were marked based on their performance in the exams. On the other hand, the students who appeared for more than 3 exams were evaluated on the basis of their performance in the average of the best 3 subjects.
In the previous year, the remaining exams of Class 10 were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
