The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the last date for students to download their scanned copies of answer books (ABs) for Class 12 board examination 2026 on the official website of CBSE at cbse.gov.in. This decision is taken to ensure sufficient time for students to download their answer scripts.

As per the notification, students can now upload the scanned copies of answer books until May 23, 2026. Earlier, the deadline for the submission process was May 22, 2026.

Candidates dissatisfied with their performance in the CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2026 will be allowed to apply online for verification and re-evaluation of their results. Students can apply for the re-evaluation of their answer sheets between May 26 and May 29.

CBSE Class 12 Board 2026: Reduction of fees in post-result services

The board has significantly reduced the charges for post-result services this year. The fee for obtaining photocopies of evaluated answer books has been cut from Rs 700 to Rs 100, while the fee for result verification has also been lowered from Rs 500 to Rs 100. For re-evaluation, students will need to pay Rs 25 per question.

The revised fee structure comes after concerns were raised by students, parents and teachers regarding the implementation of the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system and comparatively lower scores in the CBSE Class 12 examinations.

CBSE Class 12 Re-evaluation 2026: Steps to apply

To apply for the re-evaluation, students need to follow the steps given below:

  • Submit an online request to obtain the scanned copy of the evaluated CBSE Class 12 answer book
  • Review the answer sheet thoroughly with reference to the official CBSE marking guidelines
  • Inform about any discrepancy, unchecked answer or calculation error noticed in the evaluation
  • The submitted request will then be examined by a panel of subject experts, whose decision will be considered final

CBSE further stated that students will receive a refund of the re-evaluation fee in cases where their marks increase after the re-checking process.
