At 3.05 CGPA, Cotton University first in Assam to get NAAC’s ‘A’ grade accreditation in first assessment cycle

NEW DELHI : The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited Cotton University with an ‘A’ grade. The university has secured a CGPA of 3.05 on a seven-point scale of NAAC assessment. It is the first public university in Assam to get an ‘A’ grade in its first cycle of NAAC assessment.
Ranoj Pegu, cabinet minister of higher education, Assam, congratulated Cotton University by posting on X. He said, “Congratulations to Cotton University for being accredited with an ‘A’ grade (CGPA of 3.05 on a seven-point scale). Cotton has always been an epitome of knowledge and high educational standards in the entire northeast region of India”.
Earlier in 2023, Cotton University’s vice-chancellor and professor Ramesh Chandra Deka had garnered international recognition when he was included in Elsevier's prestigious list of the World's Top 2% Scientists.

Cotton University: Background
Cotton University is a public state university in Guwahati, Assam, and is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university offers programmes such as diploma, BA, BSc, BCA, MA, MSc, MCA, and PhD, etc.
Admission to Cotton University’s undergraduate programmes is carried out on the basis of candidates’ performance in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
NAAC is an organisation that assesses and accredits all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in India. It functions through its general council (GC) and executive committee (EC) that comprises educational administrators, policymakers, and senior academicians from across the Indian higher education system.
