COVID-19: Chandigarh colleges, universities to reopen from February 1

Directorate of Higher Education, Chandigarh has allowed reopening of colleges, universities, polytechnics, ITIs, coaching institutes from tomorrow.
NEW DELHI: Chandigarh colleges, universities and other educational institutions have been allowed to reopen from tomorrow, February 1 with COVID-19 protocols in place. The Directorate of Higher Education, Chandigarh administration issued an official notification.
With effect from February 1, 2022, all universities, colleges and other institutes of higher education, polytechnics, ITIs and training institutes shall be allowed to open,” DHE said in the official notice.

However, the reopening of colleges is subject to two conditions - all students should have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccination and teaching, non-teaching staff should be fully vaccinated.
All public libraries as well as coaching institutes have also been allowed to open with 50% capacity while adhering to COVID-19 norms, the statement added.

Hostels will also start functioning and students will have to present a negative RT PCR test report for the last 72 hours. Strict COVID-19 rules will be followed in the canteen, mess, common room etc., the statement further added.
In a related development, the West Bengal government allowed colleges, universities and polytechnic institutes to reopen from February 3 as the pandemic situation improved in the state.
