University Grants Commission (UGC) has also asked state and private institutions to adopt the scores of CUET for admitting students in the undergraduate courses. M Jagadesh Kumar, chairman, UGC said the report by PTI that 8 deemed universities including Jamia Hamdard and Tata Institute of Social Sciences have also shown their interest to adopt CUET exam for undergraduate admissions.
The move is expected to disrupt the way admissions are done in higher education institutions. It puts an end to the existing cut-off system of the University of Delhi and Class 12 marks now play no major role in the admission process, except the minimum percentage marks required by university as the eligibility conditions. Several other universities are going to experience similar changes.
