Delhi Budget 2021: New Sainik School, law university to be set up
Delhi Government has allocated over Rs 16,300 crore for education this year, an increase of about Rs 500 crore.

NEW DELHI : Delhi’s deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, during the Delhi Budget 2021, announced that Delhi will be getting its first Sainik School and a Delhi Armed Forces Preparatory Academy which will prepare students for the National Defence Academy and armed forces.
Delhi Government has allocated over Rs 16,300 crore for education this year, an increase of about Rs 500 crore.
Sisodia also announced 100 new schools of excellence and a new virtual Delhi model school which will function completely online. For encouraging entrepreneurship in schools, seed money of Rs 2,000 each will be provided to students presenting innovative business ideas for their locality.
The newly-announced Delhi Board of School Education will work on a new syllabus for Delhi Government schools from nursery to Class 8, Sisodia said.
Sisodia also announced a volunteer mentorship programme called ‘Youth for Education’ which will encourage volunteers to teach and mentor students of their neighbourhood.
For higher education, a new law university in Delhi and a new teachers university for teacher training was announced. Delhi Government will also introduce a new english speaking course with international institutions for university students.
Sisodia also said that university intake will increase by 8,500 in higher education following the completion of infrastructure development in Ambedkar University Delhi and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University .
Sisodia also said that the government will urge the Centre to amend the Delhi University Act in line with the National Education Policy 2020 to “fix contradictions”.
