NEW DELHI: The Democratic Teachers’ Front (DTF) alleged that the Delhi University (DU) has copied the DU Strategic Plan 2022-47 document, which will be discussed in its academic council, from documents of various universities.

The DU academic council meeting will be held from December 6. The DTF said, “The documents that have been copied from University of Sheffield vision and strategic plan, Ohio State University advancement strategic plan 2013-18, strategic plan 2022-24 of Piedmont Technical College, strategic plan 2016-21 of Friends College Kaimosi, Kenya, vision 2030 statement of University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya and IGNOU.”

“It is unthinkable that a university claiming to “move from excellence to eminence” is unable to formulate a strategic plan without resorting to plagiarism,” the DTU said.

Quality education being negated

It added that resorting to plagiarism from universities underscores the design to conform to the demands of the global edu-business. It shows that the needs of the people of our country for an equal access to quality education are being negated, the DTU added.

The teachers’ organisation has urged the university administration to withdraw this document and to reflect on the concerns expressed below. “Underneath the incoherence and glaring neglect, the primary intent of the document to push the University towards self-financing through establishment of its brand identity, marketing the brand through networking and sharing of positive stories (market campaign) along with a switch to a corporate leadership is unmistakable,” the DTU added.

The apprehension that NEP 2020 is designed to push education to the market finds concrete proof on the detailing of the “Strategic Plan of Advancement’s Goals and Objectives” in this document, it said.
