Diwali 2023: Tamil Nadu govt announces school closure on November 13

NEW DELHI: The Tamil Nadu government has announced a public holiday on November 13, the day after Diwali. The decision has been made considering the benefit of government staff and students since Diwali falls on Sunday, November 12.
According to the official release, for the welfare of students, parents, teachers, and government officials returning from hometowns, the government has ordered the public holiday for all government offices, public sector undertakings, schools, colleges and other educational institutions.

It is to be noted that November 18 will be a working day to compensate for the holiday.
Meanwhile, Delhi govenment has announced the closure of schools of all classes, excluding 10 and 12 till November 10 in the view of air pollution. Online classes will be conducted for all levels except Class 10, 12. The heads of schools can decide whether to conduct Classes 10th, 12th physically or virtually.

Earlier, classes from 6 to 12 were "given the option" of going online, even as primary classes were ordered to stay closed till November 10. Apart from this, work from home is recommended for 50 per cent of employees of government and private offices.
