Govt to establish Dr Ambedkar Chairs in 3 universities; signing ceremony tomorrow

Dr Ambedkar Chairs will be established in Mumbai University, Jaipur National University and GB Panth University of Technical and Agriculture University.
The government has announced to establish new Dr Ambedkar Chairs in 3 universities to promote research, teaching, and extension activities on the life, philosophy and works of Dr BR Ambedkar.
The signing ceremony for setting up of Dr Ambedkar Foundation in three new universities, under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will be conducted tomorrow, October 15 at Nalanda Hall, Dr Ambedkar International Centre (DAIC), New Delhi.
Dr Ambedkar Chairs will be established in Mumbai University, Jaipur National University and GB Panth University of Technical and Agriculture University. Currently, there are 25 Dr Ambedkar Chairs functioning across various central and state universities, according to the official statement.

The Chairs will also promote issues of social justice, equality, and empowerment of marginalised communities.
“In continuation of this vision, the above three new Dr. Ambedkar Chairs are being established, through the signing of fresh MoUs, taking the total number of operational Chairs to twenty-eight,” the official press release reads.
The MoUs will be signed between the director of Dr Ambedkar Foundation, and the registrar and vice chancellor of each university. One representative from each university and one representative from the foundation will be present during the signing ceremony.
Virendra Kumar, minister of social justice and empowerment, Amit Yadav, secretary, department of social justice and empowerment, including senior officials of the ministry will also be present during the event.
