EGMO 2023: Indian team wins 2 silver, 1 bronze medal in European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad
This is the first time since 2015, India's debut year, that two members of the Indian team won silver medals in European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad.

NEW DELHI: The Indian team won three medals and one honorable mention in the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO 2023) held at Portorož, Slovenia, from April 13 to 19, 2023.
The team consisted of one student from Haryana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Assam. Indian team secures 2 silver, 1 bronze and 1 honourable mention at EGMO2023
“This is the first time since 2015 (India's debut year) that two members of the Indian team won silver medals. The first silver medal came in 2019 and the second one in 2021,” the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research said in a statement.
“This is the third time since 2015 that we could send a team of four girls, the maximum possible strength of a team, to EGMO,” it said.

The training and selection programme of the Indian team to EGMO is funded by National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).
The team was led by Aditi Phadke of Nowrosjee Wadia College, Pune and Rohan Goyal, deputy leader, BSc student at Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) and IMO 2021 medalist. The team will be returning to Mumbai on April 20, 2023. A meeting will be held at 11:30 AM on April 20, 2023 in Room G2, Main Building, HBCSE to felicitate the team, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research informed.
EGMO 2024 will be held in Georgia next year. The olympiad is an international competition in mathematics, which addresses female high school students whose commitment to mathematics goes beyond the usual school curriculum, the EGMO website read.
