NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has commenced the session 1 of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 February 1 exam at 9:30 am. The GATE 2025 day 1 session 1 will be held till 12:30 pm. The exam is being conducted in two sessions – forenoon session from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The duration of the GATE exam will be three hours.

GATE 2025: Syllabus | Sample Papers
In the latest update, IITR has moved GATE exam centres 2025 from Prayagraj to Lucknow after receiving representations from candidates expressing difficulty in reaching the centre due to Mahakumbh Mela 2025.
GATE exam 2025 is being conducted on February 1, 2, 15, and 16 for admission to master’s programmes offered by IITs and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. GATE 2025 scores will also be used by the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment.
GATE 2025 will be held in a computer-based test mode for 30 papers. As per GATE 2025 exam pattern, each paper will carry a total of 100 marks. All the test papers will contain a General Aptitude (GA) section of 15 marks and the chosen subject of 85 marks.
Aspirants can download the GATE admit card 2025 from the official website, gate2025.iitr.ac.in. It is mandatory to carry the admit card along with a photo ID proof to the exam hall.
Personal calculators, watches, wallets, mobile phones, bluetooth devices, electronic or communication devices, books, charts, tables, loose sheets, papers, data, handbooks, pouches or boxes are not permitted inside the examination hall.

GATE answer key 2025 will be issued once the exam ends. Candidates will be able to calculate their probable scores in GATE exam 2025 using the provisional GATE 2025 answer key. GATE 2025 Answer Key: PSU recruitment through exam
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 scores will be used in the recruitment of engineers for executive positions in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). More than 50 PSUs, including Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) will conduct recruitment drives using GATE 2025 results.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are launching new multi-disciplinary and industry-oriented MTech programmes, as the postgraduate degree has been losing its popularity in the engineering colleges. GATE 2025: What is the marking scheme?
According to GATE 2025 marking scheme, candidates will be awarded one or two marks for each question. For a wrong answer chosen in an MCQ, there will be negative marking as follows:
- For a 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
- For a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
There is no negative marking for wrong answer(s) to MSQ or NAT questions. There is no partial marking in MSQ.
