IGNOU inaugurates 4 new buildings of Jodhpur, Aizawl, Rajkot, Trivandrum regional centres
The regional centres at these places seeks to meet the educational aspirations of deprived sections particularly people from rural areas besides SC, ST, OBC and women.

NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) inaugurated the newly constructed buildings at the four IGNOU regional centres in Jodhpur, Aizawl, Rajkot and Trivandrum on August 3, 2023, virtually. The event was attended by K Sanjay Murthy, secretary of higher education and Sanjay Kumar, secretary of school education, government of India.
Expressing his gratitude during the welcome address, Nageshwar Rao, the vice-chancellor of IGNOU, thanked the ministry of education for establishing world-class physical and technological infrastructure. He emphasised the significance of educational technology in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online education, to effectively reach and serve the unreached.
The IGNOU vice chancellor further said that the regional centres at Jodhpur, Aizawl, Rajkot and Trivandrum will fulfil the educational aspirations of deprived sections, particularly those residing in rural areas, as well as students from SC, ST, OBC communities and women.
K Sanjay Murthy congratulated IGNOU on its efforts to expand its infrastructure and provide quality education to the masses. He appreciated IGNOU's role since the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, highlighting its commitment to promote regional languages, and foster inclusivity through the use of technology in education.

Sanjay Kumar, secretary of school education, also praised IGNOU for taking quality education to the doorsteps of marginalised sections of society.
“IGNOU would continue to be a prominent name in the field of higher education across the country,” said Kumar.
