IIM Shillong launches 7th batch of MBA–PGPWE programme for working professionals

Admissions to the executive MBA course will be based on WEMAT or valid CAT, GMAT scores from the last five years, followed by an interview.
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong, launched the 7th batch of its Post Graduate Program for Working Executives (PGPWE), designed to help professionals upskill without taking a career break.
The Executive MBA programme combines academic excellence with flexibility, enabling students to learn from the comfort of their homes and interact in industry-relevant coursework. It is offered through a blended format that combines live online weekend classes with on-campus learning experiences.
In line with the flexible learning guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 , PGPWE is designed for working professionals who want to study advanced management while continuing their jobs.
With over 60 electives in finance, marketing, operations, human resources, information systems, strategy, and liberal studies, students have the opportunity to tailor their learning to their career goals.

This curriculum emphasises leadership, strategic thinking, and real-world decision-making, ensuring that learners can make an immediate impact in their workplaces.
IIM Shillong’s Executive MBA: Eligibility criteria
Candidates who completed a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA (45% for SC, ST, and differently abled candidates), along with at least 3 years of full-time work experience after graduation as on April 30, 2026, are eligible to apply for IIM Shillong’s PGPWE programme.
Highlighting the institute’s mission, Naliniprava Tripathy, Director I/C of IIM Shillong, said the Executive MBA is designed to help working professionals pursue higher education while managing their personal and professional responsibilities.
The curriculum reflects current industry needs, thus preparing the students with leadership skills to meet the evolving business needs, she added.

Sitanshu Sekhar Das, Chairperson of the Executive PGP, noted that the structure of the programme, including online learning, campus engagement, and international exposure, provides a comprehensive and enriching experience.
He added that real-world case studies and workshops equip participants with practical skills to address contemporary business challenges.
The total programme fee for the two-year Executive MBA is Rs 12,70,000.
IIM Shillong’s MBA–PGPWE Course: Selection process
The selection process includes a written and a personal interview. Candidates must appear for the Working Executive Management Aptitude Test (WEMAT), which assesses verbal ability, data interpretation, and logical reasoning.
However, candidates can be exempted from the written exam if they have secured a minimum of 50 percentile in CAT or a score of at least 500 in GMAT/GMAT Focus.
IIM Shillong considers CAT scores for the years 2023 and 2024, as well as valid GMAT scores for the last five years.

Candidates can apply for the PGP-WE programme by paying Rs 3,000. The first phase of the interview and examination is scheduled to be held from January 24 to 25. This batch will start on May 26, 2026.
