IIT Bombay to get an Alumni Centre

Alumni Centre will provide IIT Bombay alumni with a dedicated space to connect, collaborate and contribute to development of the institute.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) is going to set up an alumni center. The IIT Bombay alumni centre will be established with the help and support of its alumnus Mohan Kavrie. The alumni center will accommodate the offices of the dean of alumni and corporate relations; the development and relations foundation and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay Alumni Association (IIITBAA1).

Kavire has offered the proposal to set up the center which will help in better functioning and coordination of various offices of the institute. With a deep appreciation for his alma mater, Kavrie has contributed to the establishment of the Alumni Centre. His support will provide IITB alumni with a dedicated space to connect, collaborate, and contribute to the development of the institute. He graduated in civil engineering from IIT Bombay in 1971.

The Alumni Centre seeks to foster relationships among the institute, its alumni, and the corporate world. It will provide a platform for knowledge-sharing, and mentorship opportunities, enabling alumni to engage with each other and the student community. The Centre will also facilitate collaborations between the industry and IITB, fostering innovation, research, and entrepreneurship.

The IIBAA has been hosting various online and offline sessions for engineering students on diverse topics to help the students learn and grow in their careers. Alumni from different engineering fields have helped students to improve their skills and created an innovative environment for upcoming engineering students.
Earlier this month, Nandan Nilekani, the co-founder and chairman of Infosys Ltd donated Rs 315 crore to IIT Bombay.
