IIT Bombay, Rolls-Royce partner to boost academic research; offer internship opportunities in Bengaluru

IIT Bombay students who have been selected for the Rolls-Royce internship will work alongside the defence engineering team of the luxury automobile manufacturer in Bengaluru.
Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) and Rolls-Royce, a high-end car manufacturer have joined hands to advance innovation, talent development and technology leadership. The automobile giant has selected students from the engineering institute for its internship opportunity.
According to the official statement, the collaboration will enable knowledge exchange and upskilling. It has also been done to explore opportunities to work together on joint projects in areas of mutual interest.

GS Selwyn, executive vice president, Rolls-Royce India and managing director, MTU India, said: “This partnership with IIT Bombay reflects our broader commitment to building strategic collaborations that advance shared ambitions in innovation, talent development and technology leadership”.
Stating the importance of the academic and industrial engagement, Slewyn, said: “As we deepen our engagement in India, initiatives like this help unlock new opportunities to co-create solutions, through structured engagement between the academic and industrial ecosystems. We look forward to knowledge-sharing opportunities with the experienced academics and faculty at IIT Bombay.”
The agreement between IIT Bombay and Rolls-Royce was penned down by Sachin C Patwardhan (dean R&D), IIT Bombay, and GS Selwyn. Alex Zino, director of business development and future programmes, UK and international, Rolls-Royce and senior representatives from both sides were also present during the signing.
“India’s technology and engineering ecosystem is rapidly evolving, backed by an increasing emphasis on indigenous capability development, especially given its vast pool of technology talent, a sound academic foundation and a maturing innovation culture,” the official press release read.
