IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi launches 2 BTech programmes, new entrance exam for UAE

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) Abu Dhabi campus has launched its first set of undergraduate (UG) programmes, offering BTech degrees in computer science and engineering and energy engineering. The international campus of IIT Delhi has also launched a new entrance exam, Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET) for the students residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi: UG programmes
The BTech CSE programme covers theoretical foundations, computer architecture, software design, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The energy engineering programme focuses on energy production, consumption, sustainability, renewable energy sources, and sustainable energy systems.
IIT Delhi's UG programmes in Abu Dhabi will commence in the upcoming academic year, 2024-25, with an initial batch of 30 students each. Admission will be done in two ways: 10 seats through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced and 20 seats through the CAET.
Admission Process
JEE Advanced 2024 qualifiers can apply for IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi admissions through a dedicated portal after the declaration of JEE Advanced results 2024. Seat allocation will be managed through this portal, separate from the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) portal.
The CAET test will be conducted on June 23, 2024, in multiple centres across the UAE. It is open to UAE residents, including nationals, expatriates, and international students. Registration for CAET is open until June 10 on the website – admissions.abudhabi.iitd.ac.in.
JEE Advanced candidates will pay the same fee as at IIT Delhi’s main campus, with the remainder waived. They will receive a monthly stipend of 2,000 AED (United Arab Emirates Dirham), subsidised accommodation and food, and an annual travel allowance of AED 4,000. Medical insurance and welfare needs will also be covered.
