NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT Jodhpur) has approved the proposal to teach BTech courses in Hindi and English. Before the commencement of classes, two sections will be identified depending on the language preference opted by the first-year students, Ravi Jingar, assistant registrar, office of academic affairs, IIT Jodhpur said.
The Senate in its 38th meeting held on June 26 approved the proposal to teach courses in Hindi.
“The Senate noted that IIT Jodhpur-being at the forefront of Technology, Science, Humanities, and Management- is expected to impart education in the native language to help the students, who face challenges in learning because of inadequacy in English proficiency,” the circular read.
Admission to IIT Jodhpur is done in the order of merit in Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced 2024). The institute has decided to teach the freshers in both English and Hindi from this academic year.
Students who were shortlisted for admission at IIT Jodhpur were asked to submit preference of medium. Based on the choice opted, the institute will divide the classes into two sections for Hindi or English lectures.
